The conference took place in Varese on 29 March 2025, in collaboration with the Fondazione Machiavelli, represented by Lorenzo Bernasconi, where the concept of Identity was discussed at length. The key issue was its major importance in the concept of the Europe of tomorrow. The Patriots for Europe Foundation, the event organiser, was represented by Raphaël Audouard.

A number of high-profile speakers took part, including Stefano Candiani, Matteo Bianchi, Alessandro Amadori, David Engels, Marco Malaguti, Daniele Scalea, Guillermo Graiño and Agnieszka Kolek. The moderator, Lorenzo Bernasconi, questioned the various experts with the aim of comparing opinions and aspirations for the Europe of tomorrow, but also to encourage discussion on its philosophical and historical dimensions.

Before opening the conference, Raphaël Audouard, director of the Patriots for Europe Foundation, warmly thanked all the guests, as well as Daniele Scalea of the Fondazione Machiavelli, for his invaluable help in organising the event.

This meeting brought together major players on the European political scene, such as members of the Patriots for Europe, Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement National (France), La Lega (Italy), Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz (Hungary) and the Likud organization (Israel).

He also introduced the discussions by sharing an observation: that in our time, our continent and our culture are threatened. Faced with increasing tensions within European nations, it is therefore more essential than ever to maintain a collaboration between patriots and conservatives. While the latter have fought to defend their own national identity for many years, without really taking into account what was happening in neighbouring countries, it will now be a question of taking up this challenge collectively in order to fight against common threats such as mass immigration, Islamisation and globalisation, which weaken all our nations.

In this context, we must fight together to protect our national identities, our culture, and our common European and Western civilization.

Raphaël Audouard noted that the Patriots are the true defenders of Europe — not the multicultural Europe of the left, nor the liberal Europe of the market, but the Europe of civilizations and nations, built by generations of Europeans, and of which Italy is one of the centres and jewels in the crown.
